Aid Worker Murdered by Islamic extremists
"This Can't Be True...!" When someone you love dies, your first reaction will be "This Can't Be True." These were the words of the mother of one of the aid workers that had been held hostage by Islamic militant group, Boko Haram as she receives the news of her daughter's execution by the jihadists.

Hauwa Mohammed Liman, a 24 year old midwife working with a hospital supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was abducted by Boko Haram, an Islamic extremists group in March along with two other aid workers during an assault on a military facility in Rann, Borno state, North eastern part of Nigeria.

Two of the kidnapped women, Hauwa Liman and Saifura Khorsa, worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), while the third , Alice Loksha, worked for the UN children’s agency, UNICEF.

There had been no news of the abducted three until last month when the ICRC said it had received footage of Khorsa’ s killing from the Islamic sect.

The aid worker, Hauwa Liman was executed after a negotiating deadline expired between the group and The Nigerian government.

It is not clear when Liman the aid worker was murdered, but The Nigerian Government confirmed this in a statement issued in London on Monday by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said "the Federal Government was shocked and saddened at the killing of another aid worker by the terror group despite the actions taken by government and the widespread appeal to save the young woman".

The minister went on to say that, “It is very unfortunate that it has come to this, before and after the deadline issued by her abductors, the Federal Government did everything any responsible government should do to save the aid worker".

The ICRC confirmed on Tuesday that it received news of her death, which the group called “a despicable act of cruelty".

“The news of Hauwa’s death has broken our hearts ,” ICRC’s Africa region director Patricia Danzi said in a statement. “How can it be that two female health care workers were killed back-to-back? Nothing can justify this".

The Red Cross said, "she was a sociable, dynamic and enthusiastic woman who was much loved by family and friends. She was truly dedicated to her work helping vulnerable women in her family's home area".

Liman is the second aid worker to have been killed by Boko Haram recently. Saifura Hussaini Khorsa, another aid worker who was kidnapped in the same raid, was executed in September.

A third aid worker kidnapped in that raid, Alice Loksha, remains in captivity along with Leah Sharibu, a 15-year-old female student who was abducted in a separate incident in Dapchi in February. Leah was abducted alongside 109 girl of Governorship Girl's College, Dapchi, Yobe State on the 19th of February 2018. 109 of the girls have since been released but Leah was held back by the radical sect for her refusal to convert to Islam.
