Explosive Devices Sent to Hillary and Obama
Packages containing explosive devices were sent through mail to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The packages which were separately addressed to the two former leaders were intercepted by the US Secret Service in a screening facility which routinely screen mails addressed to government officials.

The Secret Service said “The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them, The Secret Service has initiated a full scope criminal investigation that will leverage all available federal, state, and local resources to determine the source of the packages and identify those responsible.”

The incidents occurred two days after a similar package, containing a pipe bomb, was found at the Chappaqua home of billionaire and philanthropist George Soros who is also a prominent Democrat donor. This terror saga is coming just two weeks before the midterm elections. Ironically, all the attempted targets are democrats and critics or so it seems.

At present, investigations are ongoing to determine whether the two devices addressed to Clinton and Obama are linked to a pipe bomb found on Monday in the home mailbox of billionaire George Soros, near where the Clintons live in Chappaqua, New York, according to law enforcement officials.

The CNN office at the Time Warner Center in Midtown Manhattan also received a similar bomb, addressed to former CIA director John Brennan, which caused a mass evacuation of the building where the network is located.

The NYPD Commissioner, James O'Neill has given a press briefing on the latest developments from today's events.

He said a "live explosive device" and an envelope including white powder were found in the CNN building today. "We've seen this before - we've seen worse," said the commissioner. "We will not be intimidated and we will bring these people to justice".

However, Bill De Blasio, the New York Mayor have long since condemned the act, he said: "What we saw here today was an effort to terrorise. This clearly is an act of terror attempting to undermine our free press and leaders of this country through acts of violence.

"I want to make clear that the people of New York City will not be intimidated. You cannot be terrorised if you refuse to allow the terrorists to win. People of this city have shown time and again that they stand up to attempts to intimidate."

Mr De Blasio said he wanted to "reassure" residents that "we do not at this time have credible and specific threats in New York City". But he added: "It's important to know that this is an ongoing investigation."

It seems a number of such explosive devices have been making the rounds in recent times. In an address to a crowd of about 200 Democratic donors in Florida on Wednesday, Mrs Clinton thanked the US Secret Service for their efficiency and said she and her family "are fine", and referred to the attempted bombing saying, “It is a troubling time, isn’t it, and it’s a time of deep divisions and we have to do everything we can to bring our country together,” she said, "We also have to elect candidates who will try to do the same."

However, Chelsea Clinton, the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton, tweeted: "Every day, I am grateful to the women and men of the United States Secret Service. Thank you."
